The global floriculture industry, encompassing various aspects like cut flowers, plants, and landscaping, is a multi-billion dollar market. In India, diverse agro-climatic conditions support year-round ornamental crop production. The Indian floriculture market reached INR 231.7 billion in 2022, expecting a 13% CAGR from 2023-2028. Flowers hold cultural significance in India and are cultivated for aesthetic, social, and religious purposes. The demand for flowers is increasing globally, making floriculture a significant trade in Indian agriculture. Domestic consumption is rising due to socio-economic changes, globalization, and cultural influences. The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, in collaboration with the Society for Promotion of Horticulture, is organizing a National Conference on "Recent Trends and Future Prospects of Floriculture in India" from January 9-11, 2024, recognizing the industry's importance in various sectors.
